Artist View Celebrates 35 Years with Steadfast Focus on High-Quality, Indie Titles

Artist View Entertainment is celebrating its 35th year in business, and though a lot has changed in those three-and-a-half decades, the company has remained steadfast in its pursuit to bring high-quality, independently made content to the world.

Scott J. Jones

“Our core mission has remained consistent since day one,” says Scott J. Jones, President. “From the very beginning, we set out to be a competitive sales agency recognized as a trusted, prosperous home for independent filmmakers to bring their projects. Equally important, we’ve always made it our priority to treat distributors and broadcasters with the highest level of respect and to serve their needs with dedication and integrity.”

Prior to founding the company, Jones worked as a partner in a video store chain, which directly influenced the way Artist View acquires. “As the buyer, it was essential to maintain a strong mix of titles across every genre,” he explains. “I’ve carried that philosophy into Artist View, expanding our catalog each year to include a wide range of films—action, thriller, horror, rom-com, family and sci-fi. In fact, I like to joke that our niche is that we don’t have one.”

While certain aspects of the industry have changed over the years—most notably, the recent rise of digital distribution and the growing popularity of FAST and AVOD platforms—the business remains the same at its core. “This remains a business where platforms and channels each serve their own distinct niches,” Jones says. “With that in mind, we aim to offer a little something for every buyer we work with.”

The slate of titles Artist View is bringing to MIPCOM reflects this philosophy. From the new eight-part war docuseries Fortress to the action title American Warrior to the rom-com Love on Tap, the company has a wide variety of genres available for buyers to choose from.

While acquisitions make up the core of Artist View’s business, “we do collaborate with select producers as they develop their next projects,” Jones notes. “These range from female-driven thrillers designed with Lifetime in mind to action and family titles that appeal to broad audiences both domestically and internationally.” Some of these titles are in the company’s MIPCOM lineup.

Alongside FortressAmerican Warrior and Love on Tap, the diverse slate Artist View is bringing to the market includes Six Days in Evergreen, starring Dawn Olivieri (Yellowstone); A Chrismystery, featuring Jen Lilley (Days of Our Lives); The Legend of Van Dorn, with D.B. Sweeney (Megalopolis), John James (Dynasty) and Joe Lando (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman); and 25 Miles to Normal, led by Bruce Davison (1923), Lucas Bryant (Haven) and Rachel Nichols (Chicago Fire).

The Artist View offering also includes the star-studded features Catch the Wind, with Colin O’Donoghue (Once Upon a Time), Jim Belushi (According to Jim) and Miranda Raison (Warrior); A Murder Between Friends, starring Joan Collins (Dynasty), Jacob Young (The Bold and the Beautiful) and Toby-Alexander Smith (EastEnders); The Neon Highway, led by Beau Bridges (Matlock) and Rob Mayes (S.W.A.T.); and The Ghost Trap, starring The White Lotus’ Sarah Catherine Hook, Euphoria’s Zak Steiner and Frasier’s Greer Grammer.

“As you can see, our slate is diverse, with a beautiful selection of well-known actors,” Jones says. “We look forward to presenting this slate at MIPCOM.”With 35 years in the rearview and the aforementioned market coming up soon, “our top priority remains building new relationships with both producers and buyers, while also nurturing and maintaining the valued partnerships we’ve cultivated over the years,” Jones adds.
